The Inspector - James Hollifield
I started in the construction trades as an apprentice carpenter. My experience in the building trades has ranged from historic preservation of homes and commercial property to construction of new residential homes and commercial buildings as well as heavy construction. As a contractor I have preserved and stabilized log cabins at Bannack State Park as well as built high end homes and medical offices. By the end of my career in building I had been a licensed General contractor in Montana and Colorado.
Since 1998 I have been the Certified FHA/HUD inspector inspecting foundations and homes as required for FHA/HUD loans.
I teach a one hour class about home inspections for the Montana Dept of Rural Economic Development home buyers class monthly in various locations around Southwest Montana for the past four years.
I served as president of the Northern Rockies ASHI chapter from 2003-2007 and was re-elected as president in 2012.

Your inspector at Prairie Home Inspection, James Hollifield, is an active member of the American Society of Home Inspectors and became a full member of ASHI in 2000. To achieve ASHI Certification, an inspector must meet the most rigorous qualifications in the industry, including passing several difficult tests showing a high level of technical knowledge and a complete understanding of the ASHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. He must also have completed over 250 inspections with a sample of the reports verified for compliance with the Standards of Practice. In order to remain ASHI Certified an inspector must stay up to date with new products and practices and continue to hone his skills, so ASHI requires every inspector to take continuing education totaling at least 20 hours of class room time per year.
